Need Clarity on Skilled Worker Visa Curtailment & Rule Changes

Post by Ibtehaj » Sun Jul 27, 2025 6:57 pm

Hi everyone I could use some expert insight or shared experiences. I was laid off from my role as an IT Support Technician at a UK-based fintech company due to downsizing, and my last working day was 23 June 2025. My visa status is:
I'm on a Skilled Worker Visa
My Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) was issued on 3 March 2024 — before the rule changes implemented on 4 April 2024
As of today, I have not received any curtailment letter or email from the Home Office
When I check my visa status online, it still shows as valid.

My Question:

If my visa has been or will be curtailed soon (even without official notice yet), and I find a new sponsored job:

👉 Will the old rules (pre-4 April 2024) still apply to me — since my original CoS was issued before that date?

Or…

👉 Will I fall under the new Skilled Worker rules (post-22 July 2025), including the higher salary threshold, if I switch sponsors now?
