Dependent Partner ILR eligibilty - Covid Concession

Post by nadr_b » Wed Jul 30, 2025 12:04 pm

Hi all,

I have seen at least one case here where a dependant partner submitted their ILR based on their application date instead of their approval date and had it granted. I believe this was over a month ago now. Their post can be found here https://www.immigrationboards.com/ilr-a ... 54494.html

It seems like Covid concession rules seem to apply to dependants at least in some cases.

My history is the following:
- Tier 4 up until 31 July 2020
- Covid Extension until 31 August 2020 (Unable to leave)
- Exceptional Assurance from 1 September 2020 (Unable to leave)
- Application for Tier 2 dependant on 13 September 2020
- Biometrics appointment on 9 October 2020
- Start date on BRP 9 Feb 2021

Partner (Skilled Worker) is eligible this week based on her application date (29 August 2020). We are quite worried about things going south prior to my application in January 2021.

Under these circumstances, would it be risky for me to apply based on the 13 September date?
Have their been other documented cases of people being approved and is the concensus still that dependents don't benefit from the covid concession rules?

Many thanks

My advice is the same: The rules do not mention that the dependants also benefit from that concession however people have recently reported that their dependant applied and benefited from it. Do what you wish with that information. This is your choice.
