endorsement in foreign passport

Post by boloney1980 » Thu Jul 17, 2025 9:38 pm

hi.
I got dual citizenships: British and Polish. I was naturalised as British in 2013 so well long before "status" was introduced. I had "permanent residence permit" but that's obviously not valid anymore. So if I was abroad and let say I have lost my British passport and I had my Polish on me none of the Stupid would let me board the plane as I don't have any visa, status, ETA, etc as I'm not required to have any of them. Is there any type of endorsement that I could get in my Polish passport to show that I have ILR in the UK?

You don’t have ILR!
That’s an immigration status which British citizens cannot hold, or any I ther immigration status.
Once you have a British passport you cannot get an endorsement in a foreign passport. This would be called “right of abode”.
Can’t suggest anything else apart from guarding your BP at all times.
You could try applying for an ETA with the polish passport.
Note: a British citizen cannot be refused entry to the UK even if you don’t have a valid passport . If you can get to the border you can present yourself as a British citizen ideally with some proof. It would take extra time of course.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

You could try applying for an ETA with the polish passport.
OP can't get that. It's a type of visa (electronic).

OP just needs to have both passport on them when travelling out of the UK. Shortly the EU ETIAS would come into play. OP might not be able to get that on a British passport either. Law of reciprocity!
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
