ILR for innovator(now indefinite leave to remain) dependents.

Post by lalakhan » Wed Sep 24, 2025 5:39 pm

Hello respected moderators and group members,

I hope you are all doing well. I would really appreciate your advice regarding my family's ILR application.

I received my ILR in October 2023 through the Innovator route (3 years). Now I want to apply for ILR for my dependants — my partner and children — who have been living with me in the UK as dependants on my Innovator visa.

They have already completed 5 years of leave to remain in the UK as my dependants.

When I go to the Home Office website to apply for their ILR, it gives the following options:

Apply as a partner (family visa)

Apply as a partner (dependant on a work visa)

Apply as a parent (family visa)

Apply as a child (family visa)

Apply as a child (dependant on a work visa)

Apply as an adult dependent relative (family visa)

I am confused about which is the correct category to choose for my family members.

Could someone please advise:

Should I select “partner/child (dependant on a work visa)” for their ILR applications?

Since they have completed 5 years of residence as my dependents, are they now eligible for ILR?

Is there anything specific I should be careful about when applying in this category?

Thank you so much in advance for your time and guidance. I truly appreciate any help.

Kind regards,

lalakhan

Also, when I click on “Apply as a partner (dependant on a work visa)”, it takes me to a list of options:
1. Tier 1 or Global Talent dependants
2. Tier 1 migrant
3. Skilled Worker, Tier 2 or International Sportsperson dependant
4. Skilled Worker, Tier 2 or International Sportsperson
5. Bereaved partner
6. Representative of an overseas business
7. UK ancestry
8. Global Talent
9. Hong Kong British National (Overseas) (BN(O))
10. Domestic worker in a private household
11. Afghan Resettlement
12. Other purposes or reasons not covered by other application formCan anyone confirm if this is the correct choice for Innovator route dependants applying for ILR after 5 years?

I'd say option 12 as the route is not covered by the form
