ILR Residential Requirements

Post by Nadeem82 » Thu Oct 16, 2025 9:39 am

Hi Moderators,

I am applying for ILR for my wife who has completed 5 years on Spouse visa. I am living in a 1 bedroom flat, with my spouse and 2 British citizen holder children for last last three years. We have welcomed a new baby in July 2025 after I already renewed my contract for another year.

The property consist of 1 bedroom, 1 living room, a Spam and 1 bathroom with a garden. I am a bit worried, will this fulfil accommodation requirement for ILR? I am assuming living room can be used as a bedroom for my two eldest kids? And the youngest one is few months old, so he can stay in the same room with us? Am I correct and will this fulfil accommodation condition?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

A one bedroom flat with a living room is considered adequate for 3 people. Note that children under one-year-old are not counted; children aged between one and 10 are counted as a half. So you, your spouse and two children above one-year-old are counted in total as 3, so such a place will be considered adequate

ILR Supporting Documents for Set M

Post by Nadeem82 » Tue Oct 21, 2025 2:02 pm

Hi Moderators,

I am in the process of applying ILR for my wife who has completed 5 years on Spouse visa (SET M).

I was always under the impression that we have to submit cohabitation proofs for last 2 years. However, On Supporting document checklist issued by UK VISA after completing the application form states:

" 6 Letters and/or other documents addressed to you and your partner at the same address to show that you have been living together during the past 2.5 Years".

Does this mean that I should be covering last 2.5 years rather than 2 years for which I have all the relevant documentation?

Submitting Documents Before Biometrics

Post by Nadeem82 » Thu Oct 23, 2025 12:06 pm

Hi Moderators,

I'm uncertain if this applies to anyone else, but I would like to know if there are any advantages to submitting your documents via TLS ahead of your biometrics appointment.

Do they send those documents to UKVI, or do they hold onto them until the biometrics are completed and then submit everything as a complete application?

My wife is in the process of applying for ILR using set M, and her biometrics appointment is on November 6th. I have uploaded all the necessary documents to TLS, but I have not yet submitted them.

You upload all the relevant documents on to the TLS website before the biometrics appointment and then TLS submit everything to UKVI once the biometrics is complete. This is explained on their web: https://vcas.tlscontact.com/country/gb/ ... on-process

It's exactly the same process for everyone.

Nothing is sent to the UKVI until you attend your biometrics appointment
