ISLAMIC DIVORCE IN THE UK

Post by Sid1968 » Sun Oct 26, 2025 1:37 pm

Hi

Need some advice, please,
if a divorce has gone through the Muslim Council (Sharia law) route for both parties. Both parties were in the UK
Would the UK recognize the divorce if one party wants to apply for a spouse visa from Pakistan for a second wife?
If not, what can be done to have the divorce recognised?

A Muslim divorce (or marriage) performed in the uk as you describe is not recognised.

If both parties are in the uk, you need to follow the proper legal process and get a decree absolute from court.

Any marriage to another partner conducted prior to the official divorce decree will also not be recognised.

Thanx for that CR001

Ok. Can you.also please explain. The ex wife has called his spouse over from pakistan with Muslim Council divorce documents?

Please can you advice how to turn this around. How long does it take to get a absolute decree from court.
Once granted does he have to go through Nikaah process again
