Help needed on Naturalisation Application for wife and Kids

Post by Saisathiyasms » Thu Oct 23, 2025 2:06 pm

Hello Heros

Many thanks for all your help on this forum.
Just did completed ILR applications process for my wife and kids with help of your team. such a great thing.

Now I need your help on Citizenship / Naturalisation. I have read the Q&A sections. which was helpful but I am quite not sure on following, please help me with it. I am sorry for duplicating (if any). Recently lot of rules has been changed, so I don’t want to take any chance to apply and get rejected or something. That is why thought of checking here.

I am a British citizen (skilled worker 5-year route > ILR > Naturalization > Passport) since July 2025.
My family (2 kids, both born in India and wife) recently got ILR (skilled worker dependent 5-year route > ILR).

Now, Do I need to wait for 12 months period for applying the naturalization for my kids and wife OR Is there any way I can apply for them immediately?
If I can apply for them then what is the application form, I should be using. There is something like MN1 etc., not sure which I should be using.

Your help is highly appreciated here.

Many thanks in advance.

No waiting period for your wife or for your kids.

Your wife uses the AN form (adult naturalisation) and adds the kids (if under 18) at the end. The system will adjust their form to MN1 (Registration for minors).
Your help is highly appreciated here.

Many thanks in advance.

Yes, but note the kids' applications will look different. i.e. MN1 format.

Hey Hi, Sorry to coming back again. Just to reconfirm.

I got confusion.

I became BC recently since July 2025. Does this considered as my wife is married to BC?

Based on this link
citizenship-faqs-common-questions-read- ... 95747.html
Q1 - anyone who married to BC will elible immidately to apply for naturlisation however, I became BC recently. does this apply to my wife as well? and it follows same to my kids as well.

When I applied ILR I was told to use SET(O) form becuase skilled worker depdent status will not change becuase of main applicant became BC. (I may doing over thinking) but please clarify this one for me.

Not sure what you are unclear about!!!

If she is married to a BC once she gets ILR, she can apply for her and your kids BC straight away provided she meets the requirements. This applies even if ypu became BC yesterday.

The visa route to ILR is completely irrelevant!

In this case, my family has come 3rd Dec 2020 to UK first entry, hence, they should be waiting to complete 5yrs period until 3rd dec 2025. though they have got ILR (based on their first visa approval date).
is that my understanding correct?

Spouse of British citizenship is based on 3 years residence. Your spouse needs to meet the 3 year requirments.

Hello There - Many thanks for your help so far,

I have submitted my family AN/MN1 applications however looks like I did a mistake (I am assuming)

we have to give two Referees/refrence person details, i have got two Referees/refrence person details at profiessional level, and I have filled their details and submitted.

and then I got the form to get the sign from Referees, in that form its mention that for kids Referees it should be from teacher or head master or GP (see below message)

Requirements of a referee
Each referee should know the applicant personally.
Where the applicant is a child applying, one referee should be a professional who
has engaged with the child in a professional capacity, such as a teacher, health
visitor, social worker or minister of religion.

For an adult application, one referee should be a person of any nationality who has
professional standing, eg minister of religion, civil servant, or a member of a
professional body e.g. accountant or solicitor (who is not representing you with this
application).
For all applications, the second referee must normally be the holder of a British
citizen passport and either a professional person or over the age of 25.

What should I do now? I have discussed with couple of people one said that any referee is fine, one said school teacher is must. I am confused. Can you please help me with it.

It would be ideal if they are from a teacher and that is what the guidance states. But many members routinely submit references for their children from family friends who work in a professional role and their applications are accepted.
All advice comes from personal research and experience and should not be regarded as professional opinion.
