ILR Doubt

Post by ominho_11 » Thu Oct 30, 2025 6:23 pm

Hello,

I'm very confused here, so I had applied for Skilled worker Visa on 17th Sep 2025 and received it today. My skilled worker Visa says Valid from 30th Oct 2025 and Valid to 15th Aug 2030. The COS provided to me by my employer had work start of 01st Aug 2025 to work end date of 01st Aug 2030, I've been working with same employer from 02nd Oct 2023 but on a graduate visa.

Will I be able to apply for ILR on 15th Aug 2030? The reason I'm confused here is, the Visa application date till my visa end date doesn't completes 5 years. As per UKVI website I can calculate my 5 year period from the date of my application till Visa end date.

Visa application date - 17/09/2025
Visa start date - 30/10/2025
Visa end date - 15/08/2030

Under the current rules, your qualifying period starts from the visa ISSUE date.

What is your UK immigration history? Have you applied for your skilled worker visa in the UK or from abroad?

No one here knows what the rules will be in 5 years time either. It is far too early to be worrying about ILR when you only just got a visa recently.

So what was your visa status before applying for a skilled worker visa?

You need to provide more information if you expect strangers on the internet to help you.

That aside, your qualifying period for ILR based on 5 years skilled worker visa starts from date of visa issue. Not sure why you believe it starts from visa application date.

Hello, thanks for your inputs and sorry for not providing enough info.

I was on a Graduate Visa before getting the Skilled worker Visa.
Also I got mistaken with the application date, do not consider that

You have just been issued your visa and you are querying about getting ILR in 2023 ??
I'd say the immigration rules around this route very likely going to change significantly in the coming months and years. It is very likely that a 5-year route to ILR may not even exist by then. No proper advice can be given on what you could expect in 2030
