Question about Border Force checks after previous EUSS refusal

Post by Sol4 » Mon Nov 03, 2025 12:49 pm

Hello,
I currently hold a valid UK Family Visa. In the past, my applications under the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) was refused. Recently, a Border Force officer asked me questions about that past refusal. They mentioned this is a standard instruction for people previously refused under EUSS, and suggested I could contact the Home Office regarding any note or flag that triggers these questions.

Has anyone experienced this? How did you approach contacting the Home Office to clarify or update any note on your record? Any practical guidance would be appreciated.

Just wondering if anyone’s had a similar experience — any advice on how to handle or clarify a “note” on record after an EUSS refusal? Thanks!

Just wanted to add — I’d really like to hear from anyone who’s been through something similar. Even if you don’t have a clear answer, sharing what you experienced or what Border Force/Home Office told you could really help me (and probably others reading this too). Sometimes just comparing notes makes a big difference. Thanks a lot in advance!

It likely there aren’t many or probably no members with experience of this.

Border Force can challenge/ ask questions of any traveler irrrespective of status or nationality. Officers are free to decide who to stop/question. Personally I have been asked questions many times over the years, traveling either with an EU or British passport, they don’t tell you why.
