Private life visa - clarification needed

Post by Paulivijay » Tue Nov 11, 2025 8:11 am

Asking the below query for a friend who has just registered on this forum, but unable to post their request yet and they are looking for advice urgently:

"We’re urgently seeking advice on whether our 14-year-old daughter may qualify under the 7-year private life route.

Our family has lived continuously in the UK for 7 years, in the same home in Edinburgh, under legal Skilled Worker visas.

Our daughter is 14 (turning 15 soon), currently preparing for her Nat5 exams.

She’s deeply settled here: academically strong, socially integrated, and emotionally rooted in the UK.

She’s active in church and school, has close friendships, and participates in swimming, badminton, and volunteering.

She completed Bronze Duke of Edinburgh and is now pursuing Silver.

Due to a sudden change in ownership at our sponsoring organisation, they are no longer renewing visas. This has left us with only 3 months to find an alternative route to remain in the UK.

We’re exploring the 7-year private life route and would appreciate guidance on:

Whether she qualifies under current rules (Appendix Private Life).

What evidence best supports her case (school letters, community support, etc.).

Whether we, as parents, can apply alongside her or need a separate route.

Any insights or shared experiences would be deeply appreciated."
