Citizenship Ceremony for US residents

Post by SwiftDB4 » Thu Nov 13, 2025 6:35 pm

I just got approved for British citizenship via Form UKM. I live in Washington state USA.
It sounds like my citizenship ceremony will be at a British consulate in the U.S.
I'm actually much closer to Canada. Can I request a ceremony in Canada?

I think it is very unlikely that you can get it transferred to a consulate in another country.

While I am not sure about the modalities of such a transfer internationally, be aware that if one moved to a different location within the UK and wanted the certificate transferred to the local council of their new location, even within the UK itself, that whole process of transferring the certificate would take weeks or even months.

I would suggest contacting the British diplomatic authorities in Seattle, which would likely be as close to you as Canada.
