ILR application for dependant partner: Confusion on the application form

Post by omkar_m » Sun Nov 16, 2025 2:39 pm

I am on a skilled worker visa issued on 10 Dec 2020, my wife is on a dependant visa aligned with me, her issued date is on 10 Dec 2020

Considering the fact that on 10 Dec 2025, we will complete 5 years on the visa, we have started filling the application for ILR on a 5 year route.

Following is the question that we are confused and it would be great to get help regarding the same

On my wife's Dependant partner application. the following question

"Leave granted on or after 11 January 2018

Does the period of stay on which this application was based include any leave granted since 11 January 2018?"

We have selected "YES"
and upon that the following question

"Have you had any absences from the UK during any leave granted since 11 January 2018?

(This includes all absences however short. Do not include travel to Crown Dependencies.)"

What does this questions mean ? Should we include absences between 11 January 2018 and 10 Dec 2025 ?

Please note: before the skilled worker visa, my wife was on

Tier 4 student visa (Main applicant) from August 2019 to Dec 2020
Tier 2-ICT dependant partner visa from Sep 2016 to August 2019

You only need to declare absences covering the ILR qualifying period. So, only absences since initial visa issue date in 2020.
This is because the ILR absence requirement also applies to dependant visa holders, for any visa they were issued since 11 Jan 2018

Hi,

Thank you again for answering my previous question. Can I please ask a 2 follow up questions regarding the application. It will be very helpful if you could please help me with the following questions

Question 1:
5 years of my ILR is split between my previous employer and current employer. I spent 1 year from 10 dec 2020 to 5 Nov 2021 with my previous employer and rest is with current employer.
Should I get a employment or any other letter from my previous employer ? I have been in the UK and did not travel outside UK in that 1 year I worked with my previous employer.

Question 2:

In the documents section. I am confused on the following question.

Consent for the Home Office to request verification checks for joint accounts or third party support.

Is the account with a bank or utility company for which you have supplied information and supporting documentation held jointly by you and other people?

What should I select Yes or No.

We want to show council tax bills as one of the proofs and council tax bills have both of our names (Myself and my wife's name) on the letter.

Should I select Yes ?
if Yes, should we sign 2 consent forms one for me and another for my wife ?
who should sign part 1 and who should sign part 2 ?

1. No.

Read--> All you need to know about the sponsor letter for Skilled Worker route

2. If you share documents like joint bank accounts, you should answer Yes.
You each need a set of consent form, as you described. Part one is signed by the applicant and part 2 is signed by the spouse. Ignore part 3

Hi,

Am sorry, I have follow up question regarding the consent forms.
In the document submission checklist. There are the following items in the check list

1. Declaration signed by <my name> to confirm consent for the Home Office to
request verification checks

2. Consent form for the Home Office to request verification checks on <my name> for
joint accounts or third party support

What is the difference between 1 and 2 above ? I could only find one consent form that has part 1, part 2 and part 3 for download.

following is my understanding
- part 1 on the consent form is related to point 1: Declaration and part 2 on the consent form is related to point 2: Consent form ?

is my understanding correct ? Or is there a another document that I am missing ?

Your understanding is correct. Part 1 is signed by the applicant and part 2 is signed by their spouse
