Your wife will need to be physically present in the UK at the start of the three year period before the date of application, with absences of no more than 270 days in those three years and no more than one year in the preceding year.

As regards the children, how old are they? There are slight differences in requirements for children based on their age under 18. Are any of the children over the age of 18?
