Query Regarding Document Upload for Indian Passport Surrender Certificate Application

Hi all,

I have completed, submitted, and downloaded the application form online for the Indian passport surrender certificate. I have followed all instructions and am prepared to attend my appointment at VFS Edinburgh on 01/12/2025, bringing both originals and copies of all required documents.
Could someone please confirm whether it is mandatory to upload all supporting documents, including photograph and signature, online? I have not uploaded these documents, as upon submitting my application form, I received a notification with my application number stating that uploading is optional.
Would anyone be able to kindly reconfirm this information?

Hi all,

After doing some online research, I found that quite a few people in similar circumstances reported being required by VFS to upload their documents, even though the website states it is optional. Many ended up having to pay VFS to upload the documents. To avoid encountering the same issue, I have decided to upload all the necessary documents online myself. I hope sharing this helps others who might be facing the same situation.
