Apply for Child passport first and parents later, possible?

Post by geralt » Tue Dec 16, 2025 9:28 am

Hi All,

Thanks to guidance from this forum, I(along with my wife and daughter) have received my naturalization email yesterday. Now we need to apply for ceremony and collect the certificate and onto the passports.

My Daughter who is 13 has a school trip coming up in mid feb to iceland so she is in the need of passport more then US. so can i apply her passport first before the mine and wife's? is there any restrictions with it?

BG: we hold Indian passport currently, with 5+1 year to naturalization on skilled worker visa route, daughter was born outside UK.

Please guide.

Many Thanks.

Congratulations!
You can apply for passports in any order that you wish. You can apply for an expedited passport for your daughter.

Great, Thanks for response. I will apply daugthers first and then mine. unless there is easier way where i can apply for all of us at the same time. I am hoping they do not ask my original passport for her application.

Her claim to a passport is through her own registration, so I don't think you need to send in your passport. Either way, you can focus on her application first and then sort out the rest.

Hello All,

I have received passport update on my daughters application -

"Explain why <Daugther's Name> is not applying for a passport in their country of birth
We need a written explanation to say why they are not applying for a passport in their country of birth.

Sign and date your explanation and send it to us using the details below.

We need proof of their birth and childhood
Send us their:

school records
medical records"

Our status:
We just got naturalized (Me, My wife and Daugther) through skilled worker visa route + 1 year ILR.
Three of us are indian citizens by birth.
Not sure why above question and how to respond to that.

Kindly guide.

It may be a mistake. Send in what you are requested, explain that child was born in India (you probably have a birth certificate that testifies that) and that she has entered the UK on a certain date before becoming a British citizen.

If you explain she entered the UK with her Indian passport (I would send in a copy of that too especially if it was stamped) that should be enough as it is their mistake.
