Refusing to extend a spouse visa consequences

Post by Ayezal » Tue Dec 30, 2025 5:41 pm

Hi all, I am asking for a friend. My friend is a British citizen by naturalisation and have two pre-teen daughters. She got married second time to her first cousin through arranged marriage and her husband moved to UK on spouse visa in January 2024. She is working full time (GP) and owns her home. Her husband is working since last year full time in civil services. His visa is due for an extension in August 2026. She has found out that he had been involved with various girls at Pakistan as young as 15/16 years olds. He has started an affair in UK at his work too. She has all the proofs (Screenshots of his chats etc). She does not want to extend his visa at any cost. Should she cancel his visa now or does she need to do nothing and just not to sponsor him once it is due?? She intends to do nothing to avoid escalation and family pressure from back home. What are the pros and cons to follow this route?? They are not divorced yet.

Without her support of the FLR(M) visa extension, his application will be rejected.

However, if the time comes when the relationship is no longer subsisting, she is required to notify the Home Office on the form in the link below. I'm assuming they have no children together which would enable him to apply under FLR(P) as a parent.

Thank you so much for your reply. Does she need to tell HO now or later near the extension. He is not revengeful yet but she is scared that if she cancelled his current visa, he might harm her.

She isn't able to cancel his visa. This is entirely up to the Home Office, and they may not even notify her of the cancellation.

Is she still living with her husband?

Yes they still are living in the same house. Would it be a problem if she does not support extension?
