Document Check: UK Unmarried Partner Visa (US Applicant) – Am I missing anything?

Post by Mabincredible » Tue Jan 06, 2026 11:49 pm

Hi everyone,

My partner (US citizen) and I (British citizen) are preparing to submit our Unmarried Partner Visa application. I have been in my current job for over two years and we have been in a committed relationship since 2021.

I’ve seen conflicting info online, but even though I have been at my post for more than two years and have a solid paper trail, is the formal Letter of Employment still 100% required alongside payslips and bank statements?

Here is the list of documents we are planning to upload. We would appreciate it if anyone could cast an eye over this to see if we have any gaps:

Proof of Identity & Status

• Passport Bio Page (British partner)
• Passport Bio Page (Unmarried partner/US citizen)

Financial Requirement
• 6 Months of Payslips (British partner)
• 6 Months of Bank Statements (British partner) – matching the payslips
• P60 (British partner)

Relationship & Accommodation Evidence
• House ownership
• Pictures and Chat History (collated into a single document)
• Cover Letter (Unmarried partner)
• Cover Letter (British partner)
• Support Letters (Cover Letters from 2 x mutual friends)

Thanks in advance for any insights!
