Spouse/Partner and Child Visa- guide application question - Other grounds for wanting to stay in the UK

Post by pnbt134 » Wed Jan 21, 2026 9:15 pm

I am uk citizen(got it through tier 1 in 2016). Now my wife and child came to uk in 2023. They used Partner /Child visa to get the entry to uk.
Now i need to do their extension. I hope this is the correct link to apply for their extension?
https://visas-immigration.service.gov.u ... ily-routes

Now my question is in the Documents section there was one question which is as follows:
-------
Other grounds for wanting to stay in the UK:
Do you have any other reasons for wanting to stay in the UK?
For example, include any information you wish to be considered about the welfare or best interest of any children you have in the UK. You must demonstrate you have a genuine, subsisting and active parental relationship.
1. I do not have any other reasons for wanting to stay in the UK.
2. I have reasons for wanting to stay in the UK.*
* Explain your reasons and say what documents you will provide to support your claim.
----

What should i select is it 1 or 2?
I have a child, he is 10 years going to school. And my wife works as well, as a full time. So do i select option 2 as it will impact my child school education, And as i am uk citizen working, settled fulltime in uk and will impact if they are not granted the extenstions? does these reasons be given?
What documents should i provide to support 2? eg: Letter from school that he is studying, birth cert, marriage cert.

OR do i select 1?

Any guidence or direction is highly appreciated.

Those facts you've itemised are enough, add to the form. You don't need paperwork to support it.
The form just tries to cover all angles, what you add there can't have an effect on the outcome.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
