ILR eligibility

Post by Asulum123 » Thu Feb 26, 2026 6:37 pm

Hi everyone,
I was overstayer and applied asylum in January 2019. After 3.5 years I was granted 5 years refugee leave to remain. During this 3.5 years period I kept chasing home office about prolonged delay and they wrote to my MP that. “

Please be assured that we will take into account the length of time since Mr X claimed asylum and any changes to his personal circumstances during the period until his claim is determined.
We will write to Mr X to inform him of a date when he will be interviewed as soon as possible. A decision on Mr X asylum claim will be made soon after the interview. Now my ILR is due in June 2027 but I am worried that new policy they putting asylum seekers on 20 years route. I am wondering if I can apply early mentioning home office promising letter. I am in uk since 2011 and and became overstayer in 2017 due to circumstances. Never left uk. Now worried of new 20 years rule. Can someone guide me here, thanks
