Differences in ILR application forms for GTV Dependant

Post by Azm9 » Wed Feb 25, 2026 10:56 pm

I was on a Global Talent Visa and got an ILR last year. I’ve recently applied for my wife’s ILR under Set(O) as a Global Talent dependant. The application form was very simple and straightforward, and the application is still being processed.

A friend of mine was in almost exactly the same situation (Global Talent route, same dependant ILR application), and he applied for his wife’s ILR about 4 months ago. His wife has already received ILR successfully. However, his wife’s application form was much more complicated and asked very detailed questions, such as:
- Do you still have any contact with anyone outside the UK?
- Do you have friends outside the UK? If yes, provide their names and phone numbers.
- Have you worked or volunteered in the UK?
- Do you have British neighbours? If yes, what are their names?

None of these questions appeared in my wife’s ILR application form at all.

Given that our situations and visa routes are very similar, why would the online ILR application forms be so different? Is this normal, and does it mean anything about how the application will be assessed?
Does this mean that I might have used the wrong application form/link?

My wife's application form (PDF) currently shows the following:
TYPE OF VISA / APPLICATION: Set (O)
Select a category in which you are applying for indefinite leave to remain: Tier 1 or Global Talent dependants

SET(O) and GT dependants are the correct form and category to apply for ILR.

Wait for an outcome, nothing to worry about.

Online forms change and get updated regularly. Answers to such questions on the form rarely have any effect on the outcome of ILR

Many thanks for your replies. Much appreciated.

It turned out that my friend used Set(M) for his wife's ILR application instead of Set(O), following the advice of his colleague. Set(M) is for partners or parents of British citizens or settled persons. That explains the differences between my wife's application (Set O) and his wife's (Set M).

Thanks again for your responses and clarifications.
