ICT to Skilled Worker to ILR using SWV 21.2(i) Covid concession

Post by CuriousCase1 » Fri Mar 06, 2026 4:17 pm

Has anyone recently received a successful ILR outcome after being on an ICT visa and then switching to a Skilled Worker Visa in the UK during the COVID concession period (24 January 2020 to 30 June 2021)? If so,

1. Did you consider the start of the five years from the initial Skilled Worker Visa application submission date (against approval date) and submit your ILR application within 28 days before completing five years?

2. In addition to explaining this transition in the covering letter, did you provide any other evidence? If yes, what?

3. Did your dependents apply with you for ILR, and did they also receive ILR alongside you?

Your previous route is NOT relevant.

1. Yes

2. You do not need a cover letter. You do not need to explain the immigration rues to the UKVI :?

3. Yes. Reports of success shows this is possible

Hi Zimba,

I have started filling out the application; however stumbled on the question:

When did you first enter the UK?
This is the date you entered the UK when the period of stay you are basing this application on started.

I first entered the UK in Feb 2019 on T2-ICT and switched to SW visa in 2021 (Application submitted-31/May/2021 and approval received on 19/May/2021).

I will be using the Covid concession period and want to submit the application this week, considering the 5 year period start date is the initial SW application submission date i.e. 31/Mar/2021.

What should I enter against the above question of 'When did you first enter the UK?'

This has been answered a million times before. The date you enter on the form does not change anything. The qualifying period for ILR is calculated as per the rules, NOT the answers on the form. This is not a trick question, you answer the date you first entered the UK
