Variable income accepted or wait for partners 6th payslip?

Post by qwertyuiopasdfg » Sun Mar 15, 2026 10:11 pm

Hi,

We think we are ready to submit our ILR application but have a question about when.

I believe I satisfy the requirements through my salary- However, I reduced my hours two times during the last 6 months due to childcare reasons, but the lowest gross amount is still above the minimum requirement. Would the variation in amounts be an issue? I have a letter from my employer stating the different amounts & current salary. It is still full time, permanent and salaried.

My wife earns over 40,000 but started the job in late October so doesn’t have 6 months of payslips right now. She will however have 6 at the end of the this month so we'd be able to submit start of April. Her first payslip however is 1800 so I believe that's not an issue as it still works out as above the 18,600 right?

We want to get rid of this application asap and don't want to risk any changes coming into effect in April, so what would you recommend? As we'd prefer to apply with my salary like now.

Where the person is in salaried employment – they must have been paid throughout
the period of 6 months prior to the date of application at a level of gross annual
salary which equals or exceeds the level relied upon in the application. Therefore,
the figure used towards the requirement will be the lowest level of annual salary
received during the 6-month period

Ok thanks, so there’s no issues with having 6 payslips that have 3 different amounts ? Lowest one equates to £25,000 (we applied before 2024 so need to be above 18,600) Just worried it could cause confusion, maybe a letter clarifying might help!

Ok good

One other thing getting ready to submit and a box is coming up to provide my wife’s payslips (past 6 months) bank statements & letter from employer

We obviously can but is it necessary? Plus she only has 5 which is why we can’t use her salary

You do not need to tell them about that income. The ILR application is NOT a full disclosure as you only need to declare relevant facts, so only select options about finances you would like to declare rather than thinking they are asking you to declare all

Ah right, when we fill in the details about whether my wife has a job, income etc it seems to list those documents to provide as a checklist of all documents to upload- so guessing what you do here is just not tick it? There doesn’t seem to be a way to fill in the form to stop that appearing

No need to provide anything. Ignore it
