Family visit visa advice and docs

Post by Onkarsingh1991 » Wed Mar 18, 2026 5:43 pm

Me and my sister are both married to UK born British citizens

and now both of us are now British citizens, we also have 2 kids each

we would like to invite my mother who is retired around 65 years old and my brother who is 28 and is self employed for a visit to the uk to attend my youngest 1st birthday celebrations

can me and my husband and my sister and her husband act as joint sponsors for them

me and my husband earn over £60k combined and we have £160k in pension savings

we also have around £12k in savings

what documents should me and my sister provide

also are much financial documents needed from my mother and brother

can we apply as a joint application for them, or is it best to do individual application

You and your sister don't need to both invite your mum. There's no contest of who has the most family in the UK. It's usually has the adverse effect most times (counterproductive). One of you should send the invite.

Send her an invite letter addressed to the British consul in your home country.
Attach your British passport, utility bill, invite letter (stating where you work, designation and what your spouse does as well.
As she has no funds of herself, you need to add 6 months statement of account and payslips to show funds.

Can't remember, but I believe there's a place where it asks if you have other family in the UK. That's where your sister comes in.

Your 28 year old brother is a completely different case. How much does he earn? What funds do he have available? Does he have travel experience? Is he planning to apply alongside your mum or separately?
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
