New born British citizen application (without any Passport)

Post by AJ001 » Tue Apr 28, 2026 4:14 pm

I recently received my ILR and am doing the form MN1 for my baby. My daughter (born February 2026) currently only holds a Pakistani ID card, and I have not yet applied for her passport.

As the application indicates that a national identity card is not accepted as proof of identity, would it be acceptable to proceed by providing an explanation (given for her recent birth), supported by her UK birth certificate and parental documents? Or would you recommend obtaining her Pakistani passport prior to submitting the MN1 application?.

Thanks

This is not uncommon.
Child's full birth certificate is sufficient.
You can attach copy of PK ID and an explanation.
