Additional Information query

Post by sreemurthy09 » Tue Apr 28, 2026 9:30 pm

Hello,
I have received the below email from homeoffice asking additional info as part of naturalisation application.

Passport has full name expanded and Birth certificate records First name and Initials of surname. The same birth certificate was used to apply to from initial visas to ILR and had not issues. In India usually we write first name and initials, and some documents are in this format.

I am not sure How do i respond back to the below email to this. Any advice how to response. I have not additional documents to give, all the passport, birth certificate, and parents passport all are already provided.

birth certificate, and parents passport all are already provided.
Why did you submit these??? They are NOT required for a naturalisation application.

The naturalistion checklist said to include applicant birth certificate, so I submitted.

The issue is ; Passport has expanded full name(XXX XXX XXX) and birth ceritifcate has name and initials(XXX X). I had no issue using the same birth certificate for any of my previous applications till ILR.

I am planning to response this. does this look fine? please advise.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Re: XXX XXX XXX (DOB: XX XXX XXXX)
Home Office Reference: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I am writing to confirm the applicant’s name at birth.

The full name at birth is xxx xxx xxxx.

On the birth certificate, the name is recorded as “XXX X”, where “X” represents XXXXXXX.

I trust this clarifies the position. Please let me know if any further information is required.

Kind regards,
XXXXXXXXXXXXX
(Father of the applicant)

Did you apply for adult naturalisaion (Form AN)
or for a child which is registration as British (Form MN1)?
Birth certificate is normally only requested for children's applications.
Note that nationality applications are not immigration, and have their own rules and requirements.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.
Please do not send me private messages asking for advice.

Unless you can get the child's birth certificate rectified and with the same name format as in the passport by 10th May 2026, you can respond to their email saying that the name structure is different in both documents due to the format used at birth in the country of origin, but it doesn't mean the applicant has changed their name.

You also can confirm that the full name on the child's passport should be used for registration.
