Travel advise

Post by dellledd911 » Wed Apr 29, 2026 9:15 am

Hi everyone,

I’ve held settled status for the past three years and recently applied for British naturalisation. I completed my biometrics appointment two weeks ago. From what I understand, the process typically takes around 3–4 months to receive a decision and then proceed to the citizenship ceremony.

I wanted to ask whether it’s permitted to travel using my current passport while my naturalisation application is still under consideration. I’m aware that for some visa applications, travelling can lead to the application being cancelled, so I’m unsure if the same applies in this case.

I’d really appreciate any guidance or experiences you can share.

Thank you in advance.

Naturalisation is not a visa/immigration application.
Whilst your application is in progress you can travel as usual, with your current passport/ILR.
You will only be British once attended the ceremony.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.
