Parents UK Visit 6m visa - please help completing form

Post by jondoe2 » Thu May 28, 2026 1:54 pm

UK Visit visa query - 6 months, I will be very grateful if someone with experience can answer. My parents (Indian citizens) want to visit me (British citizen) for summer holidays. My dad is completing the online application for himself and my mom. They will be travelling together. they both have independent financial proof (IT statements etc). I have two questions:

Q1: In "cost of trip" section on each form should he mention half of total cost or should both applications mention the same total cost figure? Because they are travelling as a family husband/wife but two applications are filled, so how to show total cost of trip to UK. Similarly for monthly living expenses in India also they live together so how to reflect cost of living? Financially they are independent as they each have their own savings, income, IT returns etc. Their flat in India is jointly owned.

Q2: My dad made a copy-paste error on his form, in the reason for visit field he accidentally pasted "I will be travelling with my husband". This form is no longer editable because has he paid the fee but has not booked biometrics (waiting to complete my moms form). Should he cancel his form and reapply correcting this typo, or can it be rectified some other way or ignored?

Either way is fine, they would be treated as a unit.

Same as above
Financially they are independent as they each have their own savings, income, IT returns etc.
All documents should be added to increase their chances
Their flat in India is jointly owned.
As expected with a married couple

He can simply attach a form stating exactly what happened. A word document would do. It's not a big deal. His application and your mum's application would be dealt with at the same time, so the typo would be discovered, that he's got a wife and not a husband.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
