Private life route English Test

Post by Fauxfur » Sun Apr 19, 2026 9:45 am

HI all,

I'm due to renew my visa on the private life route. It seems some things may have changed as whilst filling in the form, I was asked if I have done the English test. I am a bit nervous as I am doing this by myself without a lawyer. This is my third application and the first time this has come up. Am i required to have this test despite my private life route as I thought the test is only for indefinite leave applications? If this is the case, which test would it be, A2 or B1. So confusing!

Also I'm not sure if I am using the right form, any chance for a link just in case. I'm on the 10 year route via private life.

Any words of advice are appreciated. Many thanks.

Simple advice, do the B1 and you never have to do it again. You can use it till you never need visas again.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
