ILR long residence

Post by Dezy » Tue Aug 11, 2026 10:48 am

Hello Zimba. I am about to apply for set m 10 years long residence which the 10 th year is November 21 st. My visa run out october 20th. Can I apply directly for indefinite in October 5th or apply for FLR extension first then wait till November 21st to apply for indefinite. I'm considering that I wouldn't have met 10 years by October 5th but I need to apply so my visa doesn't expire.

Apply before visa expiry and delay your biometrics until you are within 28 days of completing your 10 years

The 10 years parent route requires you to have been under the family rules for 10 years. Form SET(M) should NOT be used :!:

For the long residence, you need 10 years of continuous and lawful residence in the UK.

Can you provide details of your immigration history ?

You do NOT need to complete your 10 years. READ the advice given in the links above. :!: :!:

Apply before Visa expiry and wait until you will be eligible within 28 days of completing your 10 years.
