Please help with spuse visa for us to uk!!!!!

Post by nichole418 » Tue Jan 27, 2009 10:40 pm

I am starting the online application process and am a little confused. First, we are getting married on Feb.7th,09 but I am starting the application now so that I can hopefully get my biometrics appointment before I leave to get married. In the application, when I put the date of marriage it is in the future, but I will be sending in the appliction supporting doucments after we are married with the marriage certificate, is that okay, do they look at the online application before your documents come? Also, when it says nationality of sponser, do I put United Kingdom or British Citizen, he was born in the UK, and lastly when it asks if we have lived together like we were married, does it count that I was in the UK with him visiting for two six month periods, which we lived together in a committed realtionship? Thanks so much for the help this is so stressful!!!!!

Firstly you cannot sumit an application for a spouse visa until you are married and you have your original marriage certificate. Secondly you will not be able to have your biometrics done until you make the application.

What usually happens is you fill out the online application then you print this off and include it with all the supporting documents and present it at the VAC and then you either have your biometrics done then or get an appointment for them to be done. you cannot apply and then submit additional documents afterwards. It doesn't work like that!!

You should put British citizen for your partner. I doubt you periods of visiting him would count as living together akin to a marriage for the purposes of the visa.

You have said "before I leave" - where are you going?
Are you getting married in the US or somewhere else?

As the previous poster stated you can not apply "up front" for the spouse visa. Need to be married first!

Wilmington NC - know that little city very well. Previous overseas resident of Bald Head Island :D

We are getting married in Las Vegas, I am a little confused, because I did not think your application was complete until you sent in your documents with the application, I thought submitting it online just got you your biometrics appointment and nothing happened until you went to that and submitted your supporting documents?
