Questions about switching from WP to Tier 1

Hi all,

I have a question about switching from WP to Tier 1.

My company is taken over by a big company. Our HR says that they have sent the application to Home Office that transfers all work permit holders into the new company. The application has not been finished processing yet.

In the meantime, I am a little bit worried to be made redundant and planning to apply for Tier 1. My question is: If I send my Tier 1 application before the work permit transfer is completed, will there be any conflictions between them? Will the two applications affect each other?

there is a ques on teh form asking if u have any applications made to Home office at present. so i think u shud wait for the WP to come back and then apply

The main reason why I want to switch from WP to Tier 1 is that I cannot wait and am worrying about the company make me redundant.

The WP application is not a fresh new application. It is a WP transfer from my old company to my new company due to acquisition. There are hundreds of us needed to be transferred.

My understanding is that the WP transfer is not actually my application, it is my company's application. The WP is issued to the company, giving them the permission to hire me. But I don't have to rely on the work permit if I got Tier 1.

I don't know if my understanding is correct. But I think I should apply without waiting for the WP transfer.

Can you give me your opinion?

You do not require your workpermit to be shown to the HO if you are applying for Tier1(G) visa..

You just need to make sure you got all the relevant docs from your current employer like Payslips, a letter if there is any discrepancy in your payslips details and the money deposited in the Bank. whihc are vital proofs of earnings...

you also need to give the details of the employer to confirm that you are working with them, mainly the HR or Payroll dept or Manager,, HO will do a check only if they have any query..

so i think company takeover process is long and by the time that finishes you can get ur Tier1 if your case is straight forward...

Actually, my work permit transfer application has already been submitted to the HO last month. They are in process.

What I am worrying about is that:

I will probably get my Tier 1 Visa first, then they processes my WP tranfer application and switch me back from Tier 1 to WP?

Will this kind of thing happen?

Anyone got idea?
