Very urgent. Maintenance funds again

I am again asking the question related to maintenance funds..just want to be sure about what to do.

1) I am submiting a letter from HSBC bank as a proof of my maintenance funds and also was thinking of submitting the bank statements.

The letter from HSBC is for the period from 1st Nov 08 till 31st Jan 09. But the statements are from 28 Oct 08 till 28 jan 09. I have been maintaining the required amount since 14 Oct 08. So should I submit only the bank statements or the letter OR BOTH.

Please advice, very nervous.

What is the period which yyou are claiming.

Is there a way that u can get the statements again from Nov1st - Jan31st.

It will be gud if u provide both the proofs

The period for which i am claiming point is 1st Nov 08 to 31st Jan 09.

Yes, that is they will give me the DOT Matrix print out....and not on official letter head...but they will stamp and sign the same.

But u can take that..since they will stamp and sign.

Even i submitted a ltter and bankstatement..though they were on bank paper..but were printed on back side( ) which i think..asessing officer may not turn back and check.

But it will be better if u submit 2 proofs. and 3months period match in both the proofs

Anyhow its jus my opinion...may be u can wait for senior members to reply

For maintenance funds criteria, two proofs are required, both statements and letter from the bank.
As mentioned in previous posts its better the period matches in both the proofs.
if you ask bank for a statement today, you will get entries only upto yesterday (this is the case with ICICI, probably same with HSBC), so ensure that you do some transaction on the day previous to the one you wish to take the statements.

One proof will be sufficient. Why two proof? It's not 'earning' criteria, its 'maintenance' criteria. Either of bank statements or letter from bank will do.

You only need the one proof for maintenace funds.

I would submit the letter, but can you not request the bank to send you an additional statement as of today (for example) in which case you would then have statements covering the entire period you are claiming for?

I submitted just one proof−a letter from my bank showing fixed deposit accounts and the fact that funds could be liquidated immediately upon request, and my application was successful. The letter was nine days old at the time of application, too, so it seems the seven-day limit doesn't apply, either.

Edit: See the "Guidance" sticky thread−apparently the seven-day requirement has been scrapped in favour of a one-month requirement.
