spouse visa

Post by umabatata » Sat Feb 14, 2009 11:58 am

I am from New Zealand, my wife has a UK passport born in zimbabwe, and grew up in NZ.
We were married last year in Ireland while I was on a working holiday visa.

She has a job offer in the UK in september. I am looking for work and have some good leads. I have enough points that if I was sponsored I could get a work permit.
I can also apply for a spouse visa.
here is the question...
is there any way of doing this without me having to go home.
Processing times for this application in NZ are up to 12 weeks. We dont want to go home for 12 weeks in order to have a photo and give fingerprints.
Is there any way anyone knows around this.

In ireland for example, I can enter on a tourist visa, and apply for a spouse visa when I arrive - it takes up to a year apparently.

The UK border agency said
"The visa application is requitred to be lodged either in your country of residence or another country where you are legally (i.e. for more than 6 months) resident."

anyone have any ideas that would mean we avoid the crazy expense of going home to give fingerprints.

Where are you and how long are you going to be there?

I am in germany, then france, then switzerland. I am allowed in any one of those countries for up to 90 days as a NZ citizen (unless they stamp my passport in swissland saying I have to leave earlier).
So basically we are just travelling until september at this stage. (or going home to get a spouse visa...)
