Biometric ID Card Delay - Help!

Post by theprincessflea » Sat Feb 21, 2009 12:29 am

Hi

I am experiencing a delay with my ID card which is frustrating as essentially I have been granted FLR as an unmarried partner but am not yet in possession of my card (what happened to the good 'ol days with a sticker?!). Due to miscommunication, my card has ended up being returned to the government by the courier company and I'm worried it will get "lost" in the process. I am starting to panic as have a very important trip coming up and cannot seem to speak with anyone who knows the entire process and/or who has the authority to see on a system where my card is and when I would be able to obtain it?!

Can anyone help, or provide any advice at all about which department and on whose system, actually handles the ID cards? The Croydon office where I obtained my FLR says they are not involved (except to order it) and the ID card helpline says it is with the "Border Agency" but cannot provide a contact or number.

ANY advice would be of help! I need to leave the country soon! (I am wondering if it might just be faster to go through the "lost" route and try to get an appoinment to get a new card?!)

The cards are issued by IPS who also issue UK passports.
