Applying as dependent to Tier 1 holder, currently on PSW

Post by egghead » Mon Feb 23, 2009 11:04 pm

I am currently a PSW visa holder until mid 2010, and now legally married to my long term fiance who is currently a Tier 1 General visa holder valid until 2012.

We were initially both quite optimistic about me being able to switch to Tier 1 on my own merit. Unfortunately, due to the current job market, my current salary will likely not be enough to get me into it.

So we now have to look into applying for me to be his dependent after my visa runs out. My understanding so far, is that I will not be able to switch in country to dependent visa.

However, as I am keen to keep my current job, is there any way that can be done to minimise the time scale of applying from my country? I read somewhere that I can apply as dependent within the country, but to go back to India to apply for entry clearance (which hopefully will not take as long as the dependent visa). I am kind of hoping that this is true, but would be most grateful for any advice. Thanks.
