Can I apply in-country? Please help!

Post by Helena » Mon Jun 27, 2005 1:35 am

Hi there!

Unfortunately, I have been rejected on my first HSMP application. However, I would like to try again.
I am aware that only certain categories of foreign nationals are allowed to apply on an in-country basis now. As a matter of fact I am graduating from the UK university this year. Actually I have only dissertation left to be submitted by the end of summer. All lectures and exams have been taken already. However, degree certificate will only be awarded in March 2006. I would like to start my job search and potentially can work from September onwards provided I have work permit.
My question is: Can I apply on an in-country basis now?
What sort of proof do I need to get from my University then?

I am kindly asking for your assistance.

Regards
Helena :?

Helena, why were you rejected in your first application? You can apply in country if you hold a valid student visa. You may not obtain points for your degree until you actually get it in March 2006, are you able to meet the minimum points required without the degree?

Hi there,

Thanks for reply. First of all my HSMP application has been rejected because of work experince and senior level not being recognised. Generally I scored 40 ponts out of 75 claimed. Therefore I would only need 25 points on my basic work experience without claimimg senior level to get through. I do not need to claim points on my Master's degree either. However, I would like to apply under HSMP again now, but will only have graduation certificate in 7 months. What sort of checks or evidence required to prove HO that you are a "UK graduate" in order to be able to apply without leaving country??

Kind regards

I spoke to the person in HO and he said send us your degree or any letter from your teacher that you have successfully completed your degree and offcourse you should have a valid student visa as well.
