Tier - 1 Visa

To apply for Tier-1 visa, is it mandatory that we need 12 months pay slip. They say that 30000 pounds as the criteria. I have only bachelors degree. I meet the salary criteria before 12 months itself. But if I have to produce 12 months payslip then I have to apply for the visa only in June 2009. So is it possible for me to apply before Apr 2009 as I meet the required salary criteria? Thanks.
