HSMP extension(FLR)????????????????? UNDER TIER 1, PLZ HELP

HI ALL,
i came here in UK under HSMP in Aug 2007, with 2 years initial leave to remain. now my extension is due in AUG 2009. I am MBA but i didn't get a job relevant to my qualifications. althogh i have a job plus i am also self employed. i consulted with a solicitor who told me that i cant score points on my earnings both from job and my business because these are not relevant to my qualification under which i got initial visa(HSMP) from home countery. so i will not be eligible for HSMP extension under Tier1.
IS THAT TRUE??????????????????? just want to make sure.

Don't panic....I don't think that is true. It is not stated anywhere that you should pursue what you studied. Britain promotes transfereable skills in workforce hence it should not be an issue. Perhaps someone else like to comment on this.

I agree with touchsensor, there is no such rule that one has to work in any particular job or in a job related to study etc etc

As long as you fulfil the criteria of extension i.e. maintenance funds are there, no immigration laws were breached you will get extension.

Point based system is a simple yes or no rule, if you have the required fuds you will get the visa/extension, if you don't then you won't.

Do not worry and prepare yourself for extension.

Take it easy. If you meet the points criteria you r good for Tire-1.
