Dual Citizen, Marrying American Citizen

Post by Toby24 » Mon Mar 02, 2009 8:30 pm

I am a Dual citizen of UK and USA. I am marrying an American Citizen

We have been looking into a spousal visa for my fiance (once she is my wife) but with my line of work being freelance and the possibility of being in different places we may not be in one place for a full two years, (e.g. as the spousal visa states being in England for two years on trial.)
So we feel that this might not be the right visa for us at this time.

What we need to find out is what the best solution for us might be. We wish to be able to visit the UK periodically to visit family, and would like to make it as easy as possible for my soon to be wife, to visit too.

Is there anything or anyone that could help us?

She doesn't need a visa to visit if she's a US national. But if she wants to transit UK immigration controls painlessly several times a year, she can get an entry clearance as a family visitor.

If she has a lengthy peripatetic history, she can try for a 2 year entry clearance, otherwise 6 months.

Hmmm... she must have blisters the size of mars if her peripatetic engagements include a hike from the US to UK!
