P60 original or Photocopy

Post by aqilzeeshan » Sun Mar 15, 2009 4:01 pm

Hi,

After first year of my employment company gave me P60 that was original but in second year our accountant changed and the P60 i got is photocopy and same is expected this year. My question is , since P60 is very important document for ILR , is it ok to present photocopy of P60 or shall i ask my company to give me original, do that make any difference for ILR ? do i have right to ask company to give orginal copy of P60 as employee ?

thanks in advance

How can it be a copy
You are always supposed to get an original

It is called P60 substitute, printed on A4 plain paper in black & white and it is original. If you look at the bottom of P60, it will say the details with code. you can use it. If you still need assurance, you can contact HMRC tax office and ask them to confirm in writing.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for replying.

What i have got is exactly this http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/p60.pdf but photocopy in black and white not the one as shown in the link though for first year of my job i got exactly the one shown in the link the colored one.

Do you guys are suggesting that the one in black & white photocopy is also considered original ? To me original is colored filled with figures written on it but the photocopy is copy of the colored filled one with figures written on it and the photo state of it.

What you guys say about service like this
https://vault2.secured-url.com/payslipo ... sp?p=P60OP
which ask to input your actual data and print P60 for you, in terms they say

"Any documents are supplied at your request and are produced by us based on the information you have supplied. It is an offence to supply false information that relates to your employment or salary. The information that was provided will be assumed accurate, Payslips Plus cannot be held responsible for false information. All information provided is accepted by us from the client to be a true and accurate description of their pay details.

Any documents that we produce are to be used for legal purposes only and are not to be used for any fraudulent purpose or financial gain. All documents supplied by the applicant will be returned and remain the property of the client at all times."

Is it ok to enter actual figures to such service and get P60 with proper colored form and present in ILR provided figures used are exactly same as in the photocopy P60 given by company ?

to ease your doubt...check this leaflet from the HMRC website...Employers can substitute the coloured one subject to strict HMRC guidelines.

P60

I got following reply from my company accountant.

What you guys say about it.

You must use the P60 I give you and only that P60 you cannot use any of the services below.

For tax year ending 2007 you received a manually completed P60. For Tax year ending 2008 you received a P60 which was printed directly from the Inland Revenue Payroll software, it is an original just printed in black and white and is a direct print of what was sent electronically to the inland revenue. Because company had less than 9 employees in the UK for that tax year I could submit everything electronically.

You should not have a problem using this form.

For tax year ending 2009 you will receive the same printed form.

I have just called the Inland Revenue Help Line and they confirm that the printed copy of the P60 is the only one you will get and you should have no problem using.

I hope this helps.

I think you are making more of this than it is.
I see no problem with what he has given you.
