UK Visa Fees for Non EU to increase by £50

Post by batleykhan » Thu Mar 19, 2009 10:09 am

Looks like many people will have to fork out an extra £50 in visa fees soon according to this report

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7951721.stm.

In my opinion this is blatant discrimination against people coming to the UK from non EU countries. They are already paying a large amount, for some abysmal service from the providers according to comments from people on this site.

The fees are allegedly going to be given to local authorities to deal with the influx of migrants to help authorities to pay for services for new immigrants.

I am wondering what these services are? What additional help are they going to give to these people. Does this government not know that new migrants that come here usually have to work t support their families. Do they know that they are not entitled state benefits, housing etc, but still have to pay taxes just like ordinary people.

I think this increase is unjustified, and I for one will be writing to this government to express my strong and critical views. I hope others do their MP's

Don't forget that students are exempt from council tax, which means you save hundreds of pounds every year. I always thought it was strange that foreign students get the exemption, too, but I certainly never complained about it :-)

Anyway, by comparison the 50 pounds are peanuts.

Indeed, for workers it seems unjustified.
