ILR possible without job?

Post by rg1 » Fri Mar 20, 2009 6:26 am

In next 2 months time I'm going to complete 5 years in UK. WP + Tier 1 combined.

But I have now lost my job.

In this recession, I don't see easy way to get a job immediately. If there are gaps in my earning (1-2 months I may not earn anything) will they give me ILR?

Does proof of economic activity is income every month?

Go to a temp agency
Find a parttime job
Rule of thumb is that you should be working when you apply for ILR or else.

become of self employed with your company. Secure some work for your company while simutaneously looking for job. Look for business opportunities in your field. This would help you to show some economic progress.

The new rules allows you to count your redundany payments as part of your income or when you are serving notice.

The SET(O) form says employer's letter is not mandatory while applying for ILR via Tier 1.

I might get a job while actually applying for ILR, but I'm more worried if I have gap in earning in previous 1-2 months.

I'm not alone - some of my friends are also in same tricky situation.
