Spouce application via the British embassy in Dublin.

Post by SDB » Tue Mar 24, 2009 8:45 pm

I will be applying for a spouse visa in mid July, and I have a few questions. I have been through the online application form and its long but its ok, nothing we can’t fill in.

I am South African and my fiancée is British, we currently live in Dublin. We want to move back to Gibraltar. Now the application forms are all online and we will apply through the British Embassy in Dublin.

1. Is the application time a month? Or longer?
2. Can you apply in person, or is the online application just a means to get an interview?
3. We are only getting married in July but have been together for 3 years does this slow anything down since we are newly married?

Thanks

Does anybody have experience using the embassy in Dublin?

I do not even think that Gibraltar is in the UK. I thought it is a British overseas territory. The FCO may handle applications for them though.

You need to do a bit of research, because even if you both get into Gibraltar with the spouse entry clearance, she may not be able to apply for ILR. You also have to intend to settle in the UK to get entry clearance as a spouse as far as I am aware. She may have to ask permission from Gibraltar to live there.

Perhaps getting specialist advice would not go amiss.
