Canadian immigration: pls advise !!

Post by banti » Wed Mar 25, 2009 5:27 am

Hello,

I am Indian National currently studying in US, also worked there for 2 years. I seek to apply Canadian Immigration, and want some good advise from experienced members. I have Computers background, and worked in Databases. I have Bachelors of Computers from India and pursuing Masters in US; i would like to know -

1) Can IELTS be waived as i am already in English speaking country (US) for more than 4 years?
2) Where are the official FRENCH exam test centers in US, like that of IELTS?
3) Do I also need to submit my Income Tax returns of US when applying for Canadian immigration?
4) Also, do i need to obtain Police clearance certificate from India alongwith the US?

I will appreciate your advise and suggestions.
Thanks in advance,
banti

1) From London visa office instructions (assume same for other offices): 'We strongly recommend that you submit test results if you are claiming proficiency in a language that is not your native language.'

2) Google for test centres for TEF (Test d'Evaluation de Francais) in your area. Worth looking at the TEF books to get an idea of levels of French required.

3) Never heard of this - unless perhaps you are applying for investor/entrepreneur visa.

4) With regards to police certificates: 'You must obtain a police certificate from each country or territory where you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.'

You may wish to check out the US requirements as I believe you have to get one from each state you have lived in too.
