SUFFICIENT BANK STATEMENTS FOR MAINTENANCE FUND

Post by suse76 » Thu Mar 26, 2009 9:34 pm

Hi,

I am applying for TIER 1 General and need some info on the bank statements needed to prove £800 for the maintenance fund.

I have an online account which does not provide statements so I have had my bank print the appropriate 3 months of statements to prove I have sufficient funds to meet the maintenance criteria (these are dated within one month of what will be the application date).

The statements are on the banks letterheaded paper with logo, they have been certified (stamped & signed).
I am also providing a letter from my bank stating that this account has held in excess of £800 for over 12 months (clearly covering the 3 month period), this letter also includes my name, address, account no & current balance.

Can someone clarify the meaning of what it says in the guidelines:
"We will not accept statements which show the balance in the account on a particular day as these documents do not show that the applicant holds enough funds for the full period needed"

My application will be submitted on 27th March & my statements provided by the bank are dated from 20th Aug - 16th March.

As this is a savings account there is only one deposit per month so not much activity on this account and therefore the statements are printed in 3 month periods on one page with a date and the balance & interest added in that month if any.

The last date on my statement is 16th March and no further transactions after this date.
The bank has then printed a transaction list from 16th March - 26th March to show that there has been no transactions in this time.

If this all makes sense and is clear - Have I covered myself to meet this criteria??

You are good to go. What above statement means is, the HO wants you to submit statements showing balance as at the period end but for the continuous period i.e. if the period is 1 Jan 2009 to 31 March 2009 then a statement which provides balances only on 31st Jan, 28 Feb and 31 March would not suffice as these do not confirm that the funds did not fall below the minimum required in the period in between.

You are fine as you are providing statements for 3 continuous months. It is immaterial that there are only a few transactions.
regards,

It all seems fine. You have fulfilled all the conditions for maintenance of funds.

Good luck!

I can confirm the above as well. Your statements cover the suitable time-period and should be fine.

Thanks everyone for confirming, I have also spoken to the HO this morning and they have confirmed what I have is all ok.

I was just worried as this is the 2nd time I am applying as my recent application was refused.

Thanks
