EC- entry clearance from Chennai - got it finally!

Post by sekhar_software » Wed Jul 13, 2005 4:41 pm

All,

Happy to say that I got EC approval today from Chennai, India.

I went with:

.Approval letter
.VAF1 form
.Notary statements from my father (my sponseror)
.evidence of my previous UK visits
.Current employer offer letter
.Next six months expenses in UK (xlsheet print)
.Covering letter
.Accomodation Letter - Supporting to this I submitted counsel tax doc
.UK Bank statements
.Credit card online statement
.Salary Slips
.Income tax returns
.Bank statements
.Degree certificates
.Experience certificates
(Dont have a clue why these last docs are required)

Hell lot of docs... aren't they. Yeah, whatever you give they accept them. But initially I went with all docs except one - Accomodation letter with telephone bill (proof that my friend is living there in UK). They did not accept the telephone bill they want two evidences of the following:

Counsel tax
Your friend's passport status (ask him to fax every page)
House agreement
Any government bill.

I convinced them with only counsel tax doc. But, they are really painful boys... so better go with all the docs properly otherwise they wont accept your application.

I reached at 7.30 in the morning... 10 people before me. Mondays rush... other days no rush... I started submitting the above list of documents one by one and she keep on asking more documents. Finally I was left with empty folders (She was generous that she did not ask me those empty folders :).

Then I paid the fee of Rs. 6800 and later service charge of Rs. 441. then they entered some details in their computer and asked me to come on the next day evening between 4 and 5. I went today at that time and collected the docs. It will take a while (1 hour or so). if you cant wait there is a sms service. send "visa uk <passport number>" message to 7333 and it will tell u the status of ur EC. Useful for a while.

Notes:
. They dont accept private bills for the support of ur friend's accomodation. They dont even keep it for additional proof.

. Take a copy of ur fax docs. They wont accept the direct fax docs... simply because of the fact that fax docs prints are not reliable after some point of time.

. Go with all ur documents and submit whatever u think r perfect. Dont submit the rest untill they ask u to.

. In the VAF1 form there is a section "other information u want to share". Put ur application highlights in there which can help the ec to asseses ur application once again. I mean its a summary of ur application.

. I filled the application in paint brush. I could not get a word document of that vaf1.pdf so, I took the image of the doc pages and filled it in the paint brush. Its little painfull but, you can write the information clearly and because of the font you can fit more information in some places.

Thanks,
Raj

Yes, they did ask for IT returns. But, I could not submit them to them. I submitted, my bank statements, salary slips, and a ca certificate stating my last one years salary. They are happy with that.
