visa status of baby born to pio holder in india

Hello,

My wife is a british citizen holding a PIO card. my wife is planning to give birth to our baby in india. she plans to stay in india for 8 months.

My understanding is that on a PIO card she can only stay for upto 6 months at any one time in india. what happens in case she overstays? i guess she can always visit nepal or sri lanka for a day and return either the same day or the next day to renew her 6 month stay, correct?

Any idea what the status of a baby (in tems of indian visa) born to a PIO card holder in India is?
we will be applying for a british passport for the baby once he/she is born? any idea how we may get an india visa for the baby?
