Post by markotsg » Fri Apr 10, 2009 12:08 pm

Hello all

Im having issue with HSBC with Online Saver account

They refusing to stamp online statments and refusing to send originals

Can anyone advize and provide a phone number where you have been able to order the original statements????

Also if anyone had any statements stamped in London recently could you please let me know which branch?

Many thanks

Aw mate, bad move on your part. The "Online Saver" (or now, the "Online Bonus Saver") account is a no paper / no frills but high interest savings account (although the new interest rate is pretty $hit). So expecting HSBC to do anything thats not protocol (such as issue statements) is a going to be a push. I saw this coming, so I transferred 800 quid to a regular "Flex Saver" account, where I receive statements, and get good customer service.

Assuming you have a current account with HSBC, try going into the branch where you opened that account. Request to speak to the manager, and explain the situation. Stress that its a requirement from the Home Office, and its critical to you continuing to stay in the country, and hence continuing to do buisness with them. I hope they help you out!

Good luck

Read T&C of your account. I quote from account opened in 2006:
3. Statements
You agree that statements for your OnlineSaver will be delivered electronically to My Statements within the Personal Internet Banking Service.
Historic statements and details of recenttransactional activity will be available toview online.
You will not receive paperstatements for your Online Saver
There is no mention of issuing paper statements on special request. T&C for your account might have a provision, though. If not, all you can do is to take a printout of the guidance notes to HSBC branch where you opened your account and request. I was told by someone working with HSBC (in US though) that the branches which are located either within/near college campuses or Embassy usually are more considerate on such matters as they keep receiving such requests.
regards,

You can also ask HSBC bank to provide you a letter confirming the amount present in your account since three months and never went below the required sum.

T&C states that you will not receive statement. That doesn't mean you cannot receive letter from bank.
For my application, I did the following:

1. I sent an email to HSBC (from my internet banking options) and asked them to provide me the letter.

2. as a backup, I write a letter and also the template of the letter I need from HSBC (including amount and details) and handover it personally to HSBC branch.

I also asked in my letter/email that HSBC should contact me before sending me the letter you that I can check all the information(which I need) is on the letter and I do not have to request the same again.

Both the above worked out and I received 2 letters from HSBC stating the same.

** They may change £8-£10 for the same which is legal.**

hi mate,

I can confirm that you can receive online saver bank statements like normal statements for specific period on request.

Call up the telephone banking guys and request a statement for the period you want, it takes 5-6 working days
