Tier 1 (General) Holder - Working Outside UK

Post by babastic » Sat Apr 11, 2009 5:33 pm

Dear Forum,

I currently have a Tier 1 General permit valid for three years but got a job offer to work outside the UK for a month oversea and a month break which i will spend in the UK.

The company is a multi national and i have contract of employment from their oversea office.

I have looked at the renewal requirements and noticed i could earn points from income earned overseas for extension. However, getting approval for indefinite stay after 5 years is my concern. I am definitely not employed in the UK as required even though i will be paying tax on my income earned overseas. Since i only live in the UK for 6 months and work outside for six months. I do not konw the position of the law on this issue.

Please help. :(

for IRL u should not be short of more than a month otherwise in your extension u ask for extra visa by telling them your circumstances. but it really depends for how long u work out form UK. as far as extension is concerned u cannot show your outside uk experience after three years ( i presume u r working outside at the moment). But u can show it when u r extending your stay.

Thanks Yasa,

I actually meant i could earn points based on my income from work abroad for extension. But the ILR asked if i currently work in the UK, which the answer would be no. That is my concern. Overall i wont stay outside the UK for more than 30days but i really don't know the position of the law. As i willing be paying tax.
Do you suggest i contact HO for this situation?
