Kelvin wrote:Hi guys,
I've been reading lots of threads in this forum and had the impression that most of the guys would prefer to apply in person when it comes to ILR. I am wondering what advantage it can give over that of sending by post ? Is it really worth paying extra 200 pounds to do it ? Of course, I don't mean the processing time as I know some people just can't afford to wait for extra one or two months time.
Can anybody shed light on this ?
Thanks / Kelvin

In person application is a premium service. The advantage of it is, you can explain any descrepancy in your application (or any doubt ) to case worker on the spot which is not the case in postal application. Your passport will get stamped on the spot but the waiting time for this is bit high; which is diluting the importance of this scheme.
Waiting time for postal application is 6-14 weeks, depending on your application, after HO receives you application. whereas waiting time for In-person service is over 6 months as posted by other forumite.
